Nice illustration.
Illustrations show that the thin stripes varied in density.
That's to say the gap between the thin vertical blue lines varied from a couple of millimetres apart, to a couple of centimetres apart.

stripes on spanish colonial uniforms

Post  BENGALANCER on Thu 30 May 2013, 3:23 am

The colonial uniforms of this type were called "rayadillo" -tiny stripped?-
The stripes vary among the troops if located in the Philippines, in Cuba and Puerto Rico, and in Africa. At the Caribbean, the stripes were so close to each other that the general view gives a greyish appearance.
In Africa, they were more separate, so you can distinguish them clearly, and in stead of a bluish or greyish shade, they were plain black.
