book illustrations

Here are some illustrations from three books in order of personal preference.

The Highland Light Infantry 1881-1914 by McKay and Anderson, illustrated by Anderson. As the other two the text is informative but I feel prefer these images.

Arthur Taylor's Discovering British Military Uniforms is a nice little book with easy to see illustrations with informative text.

Major R.M. Barnes's Military Uniforms of Britain & The Empire is acclaimed by many to be the best thing since sliced bread.
I'm not one of them, the book's illustrations drive me nuts, although the book itself is informative.
I just wish he'd pinched the kids crayons rather than using that terrible shading effect.
Content wise, Barnes's book should be better but it's a pain to navigate.
