Thanks for posting such great pictures!

Although I have been studying the Khedive's Army for many years now ( and written a wee book about its medals ) I have never seen two of the images before; the unveiling of the Toski monument and the group photograph of the infantry colour party & Corps of Drums group. It might be of interest to others that the Italian officer mentioned in the book, Major Count Carlo Samminiatelli, actually served with the Egyptian Army and earned the Egypt Medal with clasps for Gemaizah and Toski. During the patrol, with a small escort, he was attacked by several dervishes and defended himself with his sword until the Egyptian cavalry escort opened fire with their carbines. Interesting that swords were still being used by both sides even as late as 1889!

Thanks again,

Mark
