German FAD insignia 1933
This may be of interest to someone:
The Deutscher Reichsarbeitsdienst [German State Labour Service] or RAD stated off as the Freiwilliger Arbeitsdienst [Voluntary Labour Service] or FAD in 1931.
It was for giving the unemployed work and run under the State Institution for Employment and Unemployment Insurance.
After the NSDAP gained power in 1933 the FAD was renamed NS Arbeitsdienst NSAD or Nazi Labour Service. This was an independent organization under the rule of the Nazi Party.
In 1934 Hitler appointed Konstantin Hierl State Commissioner for the Labour Service. Also the labour Service was transferred to the German Home Office and called the Reichs Arbeitsdienst. This was its final change of name.
Ranks
German English British Army

Re: German FAD insignia 1933
Here's stage two of the RAD rank structure leading up to the beginning of WWII.
These ranks lead up to the final stage, which was a more in line with the military style.
Backing colours were: Green- Admin, Judicial - Light Blue, Medical - Dark Blue, Musicians - Red, War Correspondents - Lemom Yellow.

German RAD 1943 to end of WWII
Here's the ranks for the later part of the second world war.
I left off the:
Musikzugführer - plated red and aluminium cord on black.
Obermusikzugführer - as Musikzugführer with gilt star,
Oberstmusikzugführer - two gilt stars.

regards
