Hereís an attempt at drawing a Capt of the Chilian navy circa 1890, taken from Seanís link to the NYPL digital collection.
Couldnít repeat possibly repeat the quality of the originals.

Sean,
Thanks, if you could see how long it takes to do them, believe me, thereís no competition from this corner.
This ĎVinkhuizení [they arenít even sure of the spelling] guy seems to have been a little bit of a pirate, raiding books and collections, destroying many in to process.
I was wondering about copyright, but I canít for the life of me see how a collection thatís well over a hundred years old, gained in some cases by dubious means, with little knowledge of the original artists could have copyright.
Do you think this is why the NYPL are willing to make them public, or are they just very public spirited?
Shame a lot of the insignia charts are of poor quality.
Regards
WF
