Some Comments on these pictures

Post  bwana on Fri 19 Oct 2012, 10:07 am

Hi Sean,

These are quaint pictures which, although not wrong, are not quite accurate in their depiction of the dress of the Chinese troops.

The first two pictures appear to show figures which predate the Boxer rebellion. Of the Manchu dress, the brim of the Manchu cap is too high, and there is no depiction of a crown covered with red tassels. Both swords and scabbards just look wrong. The mounted figure should be wearing a surtout with wide sleeves.
